1.Those were the exact instructions:
“Son dont stop for anything because you’re gonna get some resistance,
and the longer you wait on the wall the more you’re going to get.”
Hold everything, don’t stop for
anything
and I beheld this as a wise counsil.
And so:
my back is burnt
the amount of sweat
doesn’t even matter
it feels great
rise early,
stay late.
close to the kill
and taking absolutely nothing for granted.

3. by and large the experience has been ridiculously positive.
Friends and Family stopping with Gatorade, Cold Water.
The Sherwin Williams rep that sold me paint going out of their way to bring refreshments
B, you started the trend I haven’t forgotten
Some basically strangers.
People yelling out the window:
-THANK YOU!
-LOOKS GOOD BROTHER!
-THAT LOOKS AMAZING THANK YOU SO MUCH
-LOOKING GOOD NICK!
-LOOKING REALLY GOOD MAN!
-I REALLY LIKE THAT, THAT’s WHAT THIS TOWN NEEDS!
-THANK YOU!
-LOOKING GOOD!
-THANK YOU!
It’s a continuous stream of this.
and exercise in affirmation.
I am grateful.
4. a.) The foretold resistance b.)and one real negative drive-by
A.) 0f course, the natural balance in the universe would have it that some people are upset.
There are speculations about the selection process.
about the credit of the actual design
If I give them the complete benefit of the doubt, which I try to do always, then people are just doing their due diligence.
I know these things happen on project of this scale.
I don’t take offense.
I take it as confirmation, a compliment even,
that there are sizable things happening in the development of the Portsmouth art scene, and that this does provoke reactions:
positive and negative and things harder to decipher in-between.
This does not deter me,
it is expected.
B.) random lady also gave a drive-by negative review for the first time yesterday
She said,
No-one wants to live in this city dude, all my kids died from dope, this place is a hell hole, that’s a scam. (something like that)
I feel bad for her.
She was in pain,
and she found the lowest common denominator to voice her opinion too.
It is interesting that this is the response some choose, instead of seeing the glass half full.
It does not baffle me though. That is her experience. I am no stranger to the dark corners. I haven’t lived in those dark places for very long, but i’ve seen them and been affected. I’ve talked to those people, lots of them.
Maybe one day she will realize that perhaps we really are trying to make things more beautiful and hopeful.
I hope she finds some solace.
5. PROGRESS.
more soon, god bless.
Work fast, don’t die
artist not kill artist.
….dont stop for anything…..
The distractions, the nay sayers, the haters, the rude people. They. Are. Everywhere. I say BUT GOD!
Also there are wonderful people in this world, that are encouraging, joyful and so lovely to be around.
And as I’ve so obviously pointed out both of those sides….
We have a choice every day when our feet hit the floor planted in the fresh Grace and Mercy of our Savior to be different and difference makers…..AND THAT YOU ARE! Keep being a planet shaker! It matters and it’s working! Love you❤️
