as described by Allen Carr, and how he stopped smoking 60 to ONE HUNDRED cigarettes a day.
( 60 cigarettes a day? π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬ 2. π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬ 3. π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬ 4. π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬ 5. π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬6. π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬ ) ( or up to 100! 7. π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬ 8. π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬ 9. π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬ 10. π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬)
Allen thought he was doomed.
ONE HUNDRED CIGARETTES? ββ in 24 hours thatβs a cigarette every 14.4 minutes. there wasnβt any room in there for Jesus let alone a clean smoke free breath!
the story goes ya boy went to hypnotist as a last ditch effort, he said it didnβt do anything for him but for a chance conversation with his son and the sudden realization.
im addicted to nicotine.
and that was all it tookβ¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦.
wait what?
he rushed home to his wife and told her with total elation that he was going to cure the world of something. 50 million people hearing the message aint a bad start, I wish I could find a clearer stopping number
or 55% cessation rate? That would be unprecedented if so.
so what, 20 million non smokers conservativelyβ¦.
with the easy wayβ¦
and the secret isβ¦buckle up for this.
realizing you donβt even like the thing youβre filling the void withβ¦..
this is of course obvious. but the real key is realizing that the thing youβre trying to fill the void with is creating the void.
its like this. you do the thing to get relief, but it actually just reinforces the cycle of dependency on the thing.
allen:
the relief is an illusion,
and the urges arenβt even that strong
just read this book and smoke while youβre at it if you like if it keeps you reading (!?!?)
but what youβll find is its not that hard to escape.
youβre not actually giving up anything
as a matter of fact, youβre about to make massive gains.
the zen of Allen Carr.
before you dismiss the corn ball marketing, and the too good to be true premise (Which is exactly what made me investigate)
hereβs the proposition from allen thatβs really kept me reading and learning from him.
okayβ¦..ill bite.
after all, if you knew how to solve it, you wouldnβt be here?
heβs a master of the reframe if there ever was one.
